This microcredential introduces learners to the critical elements of electrical component installation in photovoltaic (PV) systems. Covering specifications, clearances, product use, and wire management best practices, the course prepares learners to meet real-world installation challenges with confidence and precision.
Through guided, interactive learning and immersive VR simulations, learners will explore installation standards, grounded and ungrounded system requirements, raceway support, and mitigation of galvanic corrosion—skills essential for safe and compliant PV system setup.
At ImmerseLearn, we believe that electrical literacy is foundational to quality PV system installation. This course empowers learners with the essential technical knowledge and field-ready skills to perform installations that are efficient, safe, and code-compliant.
Understand critical installation parameters from manufacturer manuals, including termination torque specifications, NEMA environmental ratings, and exposure considerations. Learn when and how to use antioxidants and recognize intended use distinctions (e.g., indoor vs. outdoor fittings).
Master working clearance requirements, labeling durability, and appropriate mounting techniques. Understand how to meet labeling standards and ensure components are correctly marked for long-term visibility and reliability.
Identify and apply essential electrical fittings—connectors, couplings, LBs, strain reliefs, and grounding bushings—based on system configuration and installation needs.
Learn how to distinguish and comply with grounding requirements for different system types, ensuring electrical safety and alignment with code standards.
Explore material selection and spacing rules for raceway supports to maintain structural integrity and system longevity.
Discover why proper wire management—keeping wires off the roof and out of direct sunlight—is critical in solar installations. Learn to implement drip loops, service loops, and observe minimum bend radius to reduce stress on components.
Gain a clear understanding of galvanic corrosion in PV arrays, including how it occurs, the role of dissimilar metals, and its impact on system performance—laying the groundwork for effective mitigation strategies through informed installation practices.
Learn best practices for documenting module-level power electronics, including serial numbers for microinverters and DC optimizers—essential for system tracking and maintenance.
By completing this microcredential, learners will build a solid foundation in PV electrical component installation, enabling them to perform with precision, meet safety standards, and contribute to the successful deployment of high-performance solar energy systems.
