About the Course:

This Installing Building-Mounted Structures microcredential provides PV technicians with the knowledge and hands-on practice to install building-mounted photovoltaic (PV) racking systems. The course emphasizes compliance with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) criteria, including zoning regulations, local building codes, and structural requirements. Learners will work through site assessment, component preparation, and secure racking installation on various roof types.

Learning Objectives:

Course will be delivered via LMS and comes with a VR headset to access VR simulations.

Workforce Development

Engineer in safety gear inspecting solar panels in a green field with clipboard showing data charts for photovoltaic certification and workforce development.

At ImmerseLearn, we train solar professionals to meet the practical and regulatory demands of rooftop PV installation. This course prepares technicians to perform safe, compliant, and structurally sound building-mounted PV installs.

Review zoning rules, structural codes, and permitting guidelines set by local authorities. Learn to evaluate structural integrity, roof type, and pitch before beginning work.

Engage in step-by-step simulated installation of rail-based and rail-less racking systems. Practice marking, drilling, flashing, and anchoring procedures that ensure durability and watertightness.

Use appropriate hand tools and safety equipment in a simulated environment. Emphasize ladder safety, fall protection, and secure material handling on rooftops.

Learn how to verify alignment, torque settings, and compliance with installation drawings and AHJ expectations.

Upon completion of this microcredential, PV technicians will be equipped to install rooftop PV structures confidently and in full compliance with local building codes and safety practices.
