About the Course:

This microcredential equips learners with the technical skills required to install walk-in refrigeration systems and commercial ice machines. Covering both mechanical and electrical aspects, the course guides learners through building walk-in cooler/freezer boxes, connecting evaporators and condensers, and completing critical tasks such as refrigerant piping, wiring, and system evacuation. Through hands-on VR and immersive learning experiences, learners will gain essential knowledge on installing and configuring ice machines, including bin, head, filtration, water, and drain systems.

Learning Objectives:

Course will be delivered via LMS and comes with a VR headset to access VR simulations.

At ImmerseLearn, we focus on job-ready skills that align with real-world refrigeration and food service demands. This course ensures learners are prepared to install and service both large walk-in units and high-demand ice production equipment used across restaurants, grocery stores, and institutional facilities.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Learn how to properly erect, seal, and insulate walk-in cooler/freezer boxes, ensuring energy efficiency and operational reliability.

Gain hands-on experience with refrigerant line brazing, nitrogen sweeping, and evacuation protocols to ensure contamination-free, leak-proof installations.

Wire evaporators, condensers, and control systems, and install critical components like drain line heaters for optimal low-temperature performance.

Understand the full setup of ice machines—including installing the bin and head unit, connecting water filtration systems, ensuring proper drainage, and verifying power supply requirements.

Practice installations in a virtual training environment that reinforces safety, efficiency, and accuracy, preparing learners for a range of commercial refrigeration jobs.

By completing this microcredential, learners will gain confidence in installing walk-in refrigeration units and ice machines—making them a valuable asset in foodservice, hospitality, and cold storage industries.
