About the Course:

This Sump Pump System Installation microcredential trains plumbing technicians to safely install, connect, and test sump pump systems used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications for effective water drainage and flood prevention.

Learners will practice real-world installation techniques including sump pit preparation, pump placement, discharge pipe connection, check valve installation, electrical setup, drainage routing, leak inspection, and operational testing. The course emphasizes safety, plumbing code compliance, and installation accuracy to ensure reliable water removal, proper drainage performance, and long-term system reliability.

Technicians will gain hands-on experience in installing sump pump systems, minimizing installation errors, and ensuring proper operation, efficient drainage, and customer satisfaction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify sump pump components, fittings, and their functions within drainage systems
  • Safely prepare the installation area and gather the required tools and materials
  • Measure, cut, and connect discharge piping accurately for sump pump installation
  • Install and secure sump pump assemblies according to manufacturer specifications
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines and local plumbing code requirements during installation
  • Apply proper sealing and connection techniques to prevent leaks and drainage failure
  • Align and support discharge piping to ensure proper water flow and system reliability
  • Perform operational testing and system checks safely and effectively
  • Verify proper drainage operation, pump activation, and leak-free performance after installation
  • Maintain safe work practices when handling plumbing tools, electrical connections, and drainage components

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
