About the Course:

This microcredential introduces learners to the cutting-edge components and systems powering Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and the evolution toward autonomous driving. Through interactive modules and immersive learning, students will explore the vital roles of sensors, actuators, vehicle dynamics, and data processing in modern electric vehicles (EVs), helping learners enroll in a comprehensive EV Technician program. By bridging theory with practical application, this course empowers learners to understand, evaluate, and contribute to the safe and intelligent mobility systems of the future.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and describe key sensors used in ADAS, including cameras, LiDAR, ultrasonic, and infrared technologies.
  • Understand the historical development and progression of ADAS sensor technologies.
  • Explore sensor fusion, data processing, and the role of AI and machine learning in real-time driving decisions.
  • Recognize various actuators and control mechanisms that translate sensor input into vehicle action.
  • Analyze camera-based systems and the role of computer vision in lane detection, object recognition, and driver monitoring.
  • Understand close-range sensing applications using ultrasonic and IR sensors.
  • Evaluate vehicle dynamics systems and their integration with ADAS, such as regenerative braking and electronic stability control.
  • Investigate cybersecurity challenges and fail-safe architectures essential to ADAS integrity and passenger safety.
  • Experience sensor and LiDAR placement in 3D/VR environments to understand physical installation, angles, and field of view considerations.

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
