Icons representing a four-step workflow: Learn, Assess, Evaluate, and Implement

About the Course:

This EV Charging System Fundamentals microcredential trains EV technicians to understand, inspect, and work with electric vehicle charging systems used for safe and efficient battery charging operations.

Learners will perform real-world procedures including identifying charging system components, connecting charging equipment, understanding AC and DC charging methods, monitoring charging status, and verifying proper charging performance. The course emphasizes safe handling of charging equipment, charging protocols, and understanding the flow of electrical energy between charging stations and battery systems.

Technicians will also learn to inspect charging components, identify charging-related issues, and ensure proper system functionality to support reliable electric vehicle operation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the major components of an EV charging system
  • Understand the difference between AC charging and DC fast charging
  • Safely connect charging equipment to electric vehicles
  • Recognize charging ports, connectors, and charging standards
  • Monitor charging status, battery charging progress, and power flow
  • Inspect charging cables and connectors for proper condition and safe use
  • Identify common charging system faults and charging interruptions
  • Verify proper charging system operation after charging procedures

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
