About the Course:

This EV Chassis Architecture and Body Design microcredential trains technicians to understand the structural design, components, and engineering principles used in modern battery electric vehicles (BEVs). As part of a broader EV Training Program, this course builds foundational knowledge of EV chassis systems and vehicle integration.

Learners will explore EV chassis configurations, body structures, and component integration that support vehicle safety, efficiency, and performance. The course covers skateboard chassis architecture, battery pack integration, frame construction, crash protection systems, suspension mounting, and lightweight body materials while highlighting how EV systems differ from traditional ICE vehicles. Technicians will also learn to identify structural components and understand how chassis design supports overall EV functionality and occupant safety.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the major chassis and body components used in electric vehicles
  • Understand skateboard chassis architecture and battery pack integration
  • Recognize the role of lightweight materials in EV body construction
  • Explain how chassis design affects vehicle stability, efficiency, and performance
  • Identify structural reinforcement and crash protection systems in EVs
  • Understand suspension and drivetrain mounting locations within EV chassis systems
  • Interpret basic EV body design layouts and structural configurations
  • Verify proper chassis and body alignment considerations during inspection and maintenance

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Workforce Development

Electric vehicle technician inspecting EV chassis and structural components

At ImmerseLearn, we equip electric vehicle technicians with the essential structural and design knowledge required to work with advanced EV platforms. This microcredential strengthens technical understanding of EV chassis systems, body structures, and vehicle integration through immersive VR-based learning.

EV Chassis Architecture Knowledge
Learn how modern electric vehicle chassis systems are designed to support battery placement, drivetrain integration, and structural stability. Technicians gain practical understanding of skateboard platforms, frame layouts, and structural engineering concepts used in EV manufacturing.
Body Structure and Material Awareness +
Practice identifying EV body structures and lightweight materials such as aluminum, high-strength steel, and composite components. Emphasis is placed on understanding how material selection impacts safety, efficiency, and vehicle durability.
Structural Safety Understanding +
Develop knowledge of crash protection systems, reinforcement zones, and battery enclosure safety features used in electric vehicles. Learners will understand how chassis and body systems protect occupants and critical EV components during operation and collisions.
Vehicle Integration and Inspection Skills +
Apply chassis and body design knowledge to support inspection, maintenance, and repair activities. Learners will understand component placement, structural alignment considerations, and how chassis systems influence vehicle performance and serviceability.

By completing this microcredential, technicians will gain the confidence and technical expertise needed to understand EV chassis architecture, body structures, and integrated vehicle design systems that support safe and efficient electric vehicle operation.
