About the Course:

This HVAC Electrical Tools & Testing Equipment Inspection microcredential trains HVAC associates to safely identify and inspect electrical tools and testing equipment commonly used in HVAC service environments.

Learners will explore common electric tools and testing equipment, including drills, impact drivers, multimeters, clamp meters, voltage testers, and other commonly used devices. Through immersive VR simulations, they will practice checking tool condition, power cords, plugs, batteries, leads, probes, displays, and other components for visible damage or abnormal conditions.

The course emphasizes proper inspection procedures, equipment safety, electrical hazard awareness, PPE, and identifying tools or testing equipment that may require removal from service or further evaluation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify common electric tools and testing equipment used in HVAC environments
  • Understand the purpose and appropriate application of common electrical tools and testers
  • Inspect tools for visible damage, wear, cracks, and other abnormal conditions
  • Check power cords, plugs, batteries, leads, probes, and connections for damage
  • Inspect testing equipment for proper physical condition and visible defects
  • Recognize electrical hazards associated with damaged or improperly maintained equipment
  • Apply appropriate PPE and safe inspection practices
  • Identify equipment that should not be used and requires further evaluation
  • Document inspection findings and report unsafe equipment according to established procedures

This HVAC Outdoor Unit Inspection training is delivered through our LMS and is available as both web-based and immersive VR training.

At ImmerseLearn, we equip HVAC associates with practical, job-ready skills required for safely handling and inspecting electrical tools and testing equipment. This microcredential strengthens equipment identification, inspection accuracy, electrical safety awareness, hazard recognition, and professional workplace practices through immersive VR-based learning.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Electric Tool Identification and Inspection
Learn to identify common electric tools used in HVAC environments, including drills, impact drivers, and other powered tools. Learners practice visually inspecting housings, handles, switches, cords, plugs, batteries, and other accessible components for damage or abnormal conditions.
Testing Equipment Identification and Inspection +
Explore common HVAC testing equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, and voltage testers. Learners practice checking meters, leads, probes, displays, connectors, and other components for visible damage and proper physical condition.
Electrical Safety and Hazard Identification +
Recognize hazards associated with damaged cords, exposed wiring, cracked housings, faulty connections, and improperly maintained electrical equipment. Learners apply appropriate PPE and follow safe inspection practices when handling tools and testing equipment.
Inspection Findings and Equipment Readiness +
Practice identifying unsafe conditions and determining when tools or testing equipment should be removed from use for further evaluation. Learners develop accurate inspection reporting and equipment readiness verification skills.

By completing this microcredential, HVAC associates will develop the practical skills needed to identify and inspect electric tools and testing equipment, recognize potential hazards, and support safe and professional HVAC service practices.
