About the Course:

This Inspecting Door Gaskets microcredential trains learners through immersive HVAC technician training to properly inspect, evaluate, and maintain door gaskets in HVAC and refrigeration systems. Learners will practice identifying worn, cracked, loose, or damaged gaskets that can lead to air leaks, energy loss, and reduced system efficiency. The course emphasizes proper inspection methods, seal testing procedures, and corrective actions to ensure reliable equipment performance and temperature control.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify signs of door gasket wear, cracking, tearing, or deformation
  • Safely inspect HVAC and refrigeration unit doors during maintenance procedures
  • Perform visual and physical inspections to detect air leakage issues
  • Test gasket sealing performance using proper inspection techniques
  • Recognize causes of gasket failure including age, dirt buildup, and improper door alignment
  • Remove and replace damaged door gaskets safely and correctly
  • Verify proper door sealing and efficient system operation after inspection or replacement

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Workforce Development

Technician performing HVAC door gasket seal inspection and leak testing

At ImmerseLearn, we equip HVAC technicians with hands-on, job-ready skills for maintaining HVAC and refrigeration system performance. This microcredential strengthens inspection accuracy, preventive maintenance practices, and troubleshooting skills through immersive VR-based training.

Learners beginning their careers can also explore our HVAC Training Program to build foundational HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting skills.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Door Gasket Inspection
Learn how to inspect door gaskets for wear, gaps, brittleness, and improper sealing conditions that can affect system efficiency and temperature stability. Technicians practice identifying issues before they lead to equipment performance problems or increased energy consumption.
Safe Inspection and Maintenance Procedures +
Practice proper safety procedures while inspecting HVAC and refrigeration unit doors and seals. Learners perform controlled inspections, handle components safely, and follow correct maintenance practices to prevent equipment damage and ensure safe operation.
Cause Identification +
Determine common causes of gasket deterioration such as aging, moisture exposure, dirt accumulation, frequent door usage, or poor door alignment by evaluating gasket condition and system performance.
Replacement and Verification +
Select and install compatible replacement gaskets, secure them properly, and verify complete door sealing. Learners complete the process by confirming proper airflow control, temperature retention, and efficient system performance.

By completing this microcredential, HVAC technicians will build the confidence and technical skills needed to inspect door gaskets, identify sealing issues, perform safe replacements, and maintain efficient HVAC and refrigeration system operation in real-world service environments.
