Perform Preventive Maintenance
About the Course:
This Perform Preventive Maintenance microcredential trains PV technicians to perform safe, systematic, and code-compliant preventive maintenance on photovoltaic (PV) systems. Learners will practice real-world scenarios in VR, including performing startup and shutdown sequences and applying NFPA 70E lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure complete de-energization before maintenance.
The course emphasizes OSHA compliance, structured O&M practices, visual and mechanical inspections, and identification of common failure points across PV components to maintain long-term reliability and performance. These skills are reinforced through our photovoltaic operations and maintenance training.
Learning Objectives:
- Apply OSHA safety regulations and site-specific safety procedures during preventive maintenance.
- Follow NFPA 70E standards and demonstrate proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) sequences using VR-based activities.
- Perform safe startup and shutdown procedures through immersive VR simulations.
- Develop O&M strategies and understand common causes of equipment degradation and failure.
- Create and apply maintenance schedules based on manufacturer and site-specific criteria.
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Workforce Development

At ImmerseLearn, we prepare technicians to perform preventive maintenance through safe work habits, accurate inspection routines, and effective system management. This microcredential focuses on procedural excellence, preventive awareness, and safety compliance.
By completing this microcredential, technicians will master preventive maintenance practices in PV systems—developing VR-based proficiency in lockout/tagout and startup procedures, and ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality system operation.
