Installing Ground-Mounted Structures
About the Course:
This Installing Ground-Mounted PV Structures microcredential equips PV technicians with the knowledge and practical skills to safely and effectively install ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) structures. Learners will review National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) guidelines, and OSHA standards. The course also addresses geotechnical and structural considerations, utility coordination, and environmental impacts. Through VR-based simulations, learners will assemble racking systems and practice neat, code-compliant installation techniques. To learn more advanced PV installation skills, explore our Photovoltaic Training Program for certification-focused hands-on learning.
Learning Objectives:
- Apply NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements to ground-mounted PV installations.
- Interpret AHJ regulations, zoning requirements, and permitting processes.
- Assemble ground-mounted racking systems per manufacturer specifications.
- Locate and protect underground utilities before construction.
- Evaluate and mitigate environmental impacts during site work.
- Restore job sites to proper condition after installation.
- Identify and manage required tools, machinery, and material availability.
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
