About the Course:

Adult CPR Emergency Response is a critical life-saving skill for Nursing Assistants working in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare environments. In this microcredential, learners are introduced to the purpose and clinical importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), including its role in responding to cardiac arrest and maintaining blood circulation and oxygen delivery when a patient stops breathing or loses pulse.

Through immersive VR simulations, learners gain hands-on experience performing Adult CPR while following proper emergency response procedures, pulse assessment techniques, chest compression protocols, rescue breathing, and airway management requirements. The course emphasizes quick response, correct compression depth and rhythm, effective ventilation techniques, and maintaining patient safety throughout the emergency intervention.

Learners will also practice identifying signs of cardiac arrest, performing CPR cycles accurately, using barrier devices such as CPR valve masks, and responding appropriately until advanced medical help arrives. The course highlights professionalism, emergency preparedness, patient safety, and adherence to established CPR and resuscitation guidelines essential in healthcare settings.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the purpose and importance of Adult CPR during cardiac emergencies.
  • Understand pulse assessment procedures, chest compression techniques, and rescue breathing protocols.
  • Demonstrate proper patient assessment and emergency response procedures.
  • Perform Adult CPR using correct compression-to-breath ratio and airway management techniques.
  • Apply infection control and patient safety procedures throughout emergency care.
  • Accurately recognize patient response and continue CPR according to established guidelines.

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

At ImmerseLearn, we prepare healthcare learners with critical emergency response and patient care skills required in modern healthcare environments. This microcredential develops competency in cardiac emergency response, pulse assessment, chest compression techniques, airway management, rescue breathing, and patient safety procedures necessary for delivering effective life-saving care.

Understanding Adult CPR
Explore interactive 3D visuals explaining cardiac arrest, the circulatory system, oxygen delivery to vital organs, and the importance of immediate CPR intervention. Understand how proper CPR helps maintain circulation and improves survival outcomes during medical emergencies.
Patient Assessment and Pulse Check Procedures +
Learn the principles of Adult CPR, including recognizing unresponsiveness, assessing breathing, and checking the carotid pulse. Experience virtual demonstrations of proper hand placement for pulse assessment and understanding when immediate CPR intervention is required when no pulse is detected.
Chest Compression and Rescue Breathing Procedure +
Engage in immersive VR scenarios to practice proper hand placement on the patient’s chest, performing 30 chest compressions at the correct depth and rhythm, opening the airway using proper chin lift technique, positioning the CPR valve mask correctly, and delivering two rescue breaths while ensuring effective ventilation. Learn proper compression speed and continuous CPR cycles required during cardiac emergencies.
Airway Management and Infection Control +
Understand the importance of maintaining an open airway, proper use of CPR valve masks or barrier devices, hand hygiene practices, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and following infection prevention procedures while providing emergency care. Ensure both patient and caregiver safety during CPR procedures.
Emergency Response and Continuous CPR Cycles +
Develop skills in continuously assessing patient condition, recognizing signs of breathing or recovery, resuming chest compressions immediately when no spontaneous breathing is present, and maintaining high-quality CPR until advanced medical assistance arrives. Learn the importance of consistency, timing, and proper emergency communication during resuscitation procedures.

By completing this microcredential, learners will gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in performing Adult CPR. Learners will develop essential competencies in pulse assessment, chest compression techniques, rescue breathing procedures, airway management, infection prevention, and emergency response skills necessary to provide immediate life-saving care in Nursing Assistant and allied health settings.
