About the Course:

This Aircraft Air Conditioning Pack Fault Troubleshooting & Sensor Replacement microcredential trains Aircraft Electronics Technicians to identify and troubleshoot faults in an aircraft's air conditioning system using built-in testing procedures and component replacement techniques.

Through immersive VR simulations, learners will investigate an illuminated PACK fault indicator, perform a Built-In Test (BIT) in the avionics bay, and access the air conditioning bay to replace a faulty sensor. Learners will practice disconnecting connectors, removing and reinstalling safety wire, loosening and tightening sensor fittings, preparing a replacement sensor, and reconnecting electrical connections. The course concludes with another BIT to verify that the fault has been corrected.

The course emphasizes systematic fault diagnosis, proper tool handling, sensor replacement, safety-wire installation, and verification testing in accordance with established aircraft maintenance procedures.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the purpose of the aircraft air conditioning pack and recognize a PACK fault indication.
  • Identify the role of the Built-In Test (BIT) in aircraft fault diagnosis.
  • Locate the avionics bay and air conditioning bay relevant to the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Safely disconnect the designated connector plug before sensor removal.
  • Identify and use the appropriate tools for safety-wire removal and installation.
  • Prepare and position a replacement sensor according to the specified procedure.
  • Apply the required oil to the designated sensor area as instructed.
  • Tighten the replacement sensor and reinstall the safety wire correctly.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and verify that connections are restored.
  • Perform the BIT again to confirm whether the fault has been corrected.
  • Follow established aircraft maintenance procedures throughout the troubleshooting process.

This Aircraft Air Conditioning Pack Fault Troubleshooting & Sensor Replacement training is delivered through our LMS and is available as both web-based and immersive VR training.

Aircraft Air Conditioning Pack Fault Troubleshooting & Sensor Replacement Training for Aircraft Electronics Technicians

Technician in a hard hat inspecting equipment

At ImmerseLearn, we equip Aircraft Electronics Technicians with practical troubleshooting skills for aircraft environmental control systems. This microcredential strengthens fault identification, BIT interpretation, tool handling, sensor replacement, safety-wire installation, connector handling, and post-maintenance verification through immersive VR-based learning.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Air Conditioning Pack Fault Identification −
Learn to recognize an illuminated PACK fault indicator and understand how it signals a potential issue within the aircraft air conditioning system. Learners explore the role of initial fault testing in identifying the need for further inspection.
Built-In Test (BIT) and Fault Diagnosis +
Practice accessing the avionics bay and performing the prescribed Built-In Test. Learners interpret the simulated test outcome and understand how the results guide further troubleshooting in the air conditioning bay.
Faulty Sensor Removal and Preparation +
Develop practical skills in accessing the designated sensor, disconnecting its connector plug, and removing the safety wire using the appropriate twisting tool. Learners practice loosening the sensor with a wrench and removing it from its installed position according to the provided procedure.
Replacement Sensor Installation +
Practice preparing the replacement sensor by applying oil to the designated area, positioning the sensor correctly, and tightening it with the appropriate wrench. Learners also reinforce correct safety-wire installation and secure reconnection of the connector plug.
Post-Replacement Testing and Verification +
Learn to return to the avionics bay and repeat the Built-In Test after replacing the sensor. Learners interpret the simulated test result and understand how a passed test indicates that the reported fault has been corrected within the scenario.
Maintenance Procedure Compliance +
Develop awareness of systematic troubleshooting, proper tool handling, component protection, and adherence to prescribed maintenance instructions. Learners reinforce the importance of completing each step in sequence and verifying the results before considering the procedure complete.

By completing this microcredential, learners will develop practical knowledge and simulated experience in troubleshooting an aircraft air conditioning pack fault. Learners will be able to recognize a PACK fault indication, perform and interpret the prescribed BIT, remove and replace the designated sensor, reinstall safety wire, reconnect the connector, and conduct verification testing. These skills support systematic fault diagnosis and procedural accuracy in aircraft maintenance environments.
