About the Course:

This Aircraft Electrical Circuit Troubleshooting microcredential trains Aircraft Electronics Technicians to identify and troubleshoot basic electrical circuit faults using a digital multimeter and appropriate diagnostic procedures.

Through immersive VR simulations, learners will troubleshoot a sensor circuit by identifying an unpowered section, measuring DC voltage, testing a fuse for continuity, inspecting wire connections, identifying an improperly stripped wire, and verifying the circuit after repair. The course emphasizes systematic fault identification, proper multimeter use, electrical safety, and accurate verification of circuit operation.

Learners will practice following a structured troubleshooting process to locate faults, determine the cause of a circuit problem, safely correct the identified wiring issue, and verify that power has been restored to the circuit.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify basic circuit faults using a systematic troubleshooting approach.
  • Recognize symptoms of a circuit section that is not receiving power.
  • Select and use the DC voltage setting on a digital multimeter.
  • Perform voltage measurements at designated circuit terminals.
  • Test a fuse using the continuity function of a multimeter.
  • Determine whether a fuse is conducting electricity or is open.
  • Inspect wire connections for improper stripping or poor electrical contact.
  • Identify wiring faults that can prevent power from reaching a circuit section.
  • Safely de-energize the circuit before performing wiring repairs.
  • Reconnect wires securely to their respective terminals.
  • Verify circuit operation after completing the repair.

This Aircraft Electrical Circuit Troubleshooting for Aircraft Electronics training is delivered through our LMS and is available as both web-based and immersive VR training.

At ImmerseLearn, we equip Aircraft Electronics Technicians with practical troubleshooting skills required to identify and resolve basic electrical circuit faults. This microcredential strengthens diagnostic reasoning, multimeter use, fault identification, wiring inspection, safe repair practices, and circuit verification through immersive VR-based learning.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Circuit Fault Identification −
Learn to recognize circuit symptoms by observing indicator lights and identifying sections that are not receiving power. Learners develop a systematic approach to identifying where a circuit fault may be located before beginning detailed testing.
Voltage Testing and Power Verification +
Practice using a digital multimeter in DC voltage mode to test designated circuit terminals. Learners compare voltage readings to determine whether power is reaching different sections of the circuit and narrow down the location of the fault.
Fuse and Continuity Testing +
Use the multimeter's continuity function to test a fuse and determine whether it is conducting electricity. Learners reinforce proper probe placement and interpretation of continuity readings during circuit troubleshooting.
Wiring Inspection and Fault Identification +
Inspect wire connections and identify an improperly stripped wire where insulation prevents the conductor from making proper electrical contact with the terminal. Learners understand how wiring connection issues can interrupt circuit operation.
Safe Wiring Repair and Circuit Verification +
Practice turning off the circuit breaker before repairing the wiring, properly stripping the wire, and securing the wires in their respective terminals. Learners then restore power and verify successful repair by confirming that all indicator lights illuminate.

By completing this microcredential, learners will develop practical skills in basic electrical circuit troubleshooting and fault identification. Learners will be able to use a digital multimeter to test voltage and continuity, identify fuse and wiring faults, perform basic wiring corrections safely, and verify proper circuit operation after repair.
