About the Course:

This Digital Multimeter Operations for Aircraft Electronics microcredential trains Aircraft Electronics Technicians to understand and operate a digital multimeter for common electrical measurements used in aircraft electronics environments.

Through immersive VR simulations, learners will practice setting up the multimeter, selecting the appropriate terminals and measurement modes, and using test probes to perform continuity, resistance, DC voltage, and current measurements. Learners will work with switches, circuit boards, wires, batteries, light bulbs, and resistors to understand how electrical measurements help verify circuit paths and component conditions.

The course emphasizes proper probe placement, measurement-mode selection, electrical safety, accurate reading interpretation, and safe handling of the multimeter during electrical testing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the major terminals, probes, selector dial, and functions of a digital multimeter.
  • Understand the purpose of the COM, Ω, and A terminals.
  • Select the appropriate measurement mode for continuity, resistance, voltage, and current.
  • Perform continuity tests on switches, circuit boards, and wires.
  • Understand the importance of ensuring circuits are powered OFF before continuity testing.
  • Measure resistance in wires, bulbs, resistors, and other components.
  • Perform DC voltage measurements on batteries and circuit boards.
  • Recognize reversed probe connections during voltage measurements.
  • Perform basic current measurements using the appropriate terminal and mode.
  • Interpret multimeter readings and identify basic electrical conditions.
  • Follow proper probe handling and electrical measurement safety procedures.

This Digital Multimeter Operations for Aircraft Electronics training is delivered through our LMS and is available as both web-based and immersive VR training.

At ImmerseLearn, we equip Aircraft Electronics Technicians with practical electrical testing skills required for aircraft electronics environments. This microcredential strengthens multimeter operation, measurement accuracy, electrical troubleshooting awareness, safe test practices, and interpretation of electrical readings through immersive VR-based learning.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Multimeter Setup and Terminal Selection −
Learn to identify the COM, Ω, and A terminals and understand their appropriate applications. Learners practice connecting the black and red test leads correctly and selecting the appropriate measurement function before performing electrical tests.
Continuity Testing +
Practice using continuity mode to test switches, circuit boards, and wires. Learners observe multimeter readings and audible signals to determine whether an electrical path is continuous and understand how continuity testing can help identify open circuits or hidden wire breaks.
Resistance Measurement +
Explore resistance measurement using the Ω mode. Learners practice measuring resistance in wires, light bulbs, human skin, and resistors while understanding how resistance readings can provide information about component and circuit conditions.
DC Voltage Measurement +
Practice selecting DC voltage mode and measuring voltage across batteries and circuit board terminals. Learners identify correct probe placement, recognize reversed probe connections, and compare voltage levels at different points in a circuit.
Current Measurement and Safe Probe Handling +
Learn to configure the multimeter for current measurement by moving the red lead to the A terminal and selecting current mode. Learners practice measuring current in an open circuit and reinforce the importance of returning the red probe from the A terminal after completing the measurement.

By completing this microcredential, learners will develop practical skills in digital multimeter operation and electrical measurement. Learners will be able to correctly configure a multimeter, perform continuity, resistance, DC voltage, and current measurements, interpret basic readings, and follow appropriate electrical safety practices in aircraft electronics environments.
