About the Course:

This Aircraft Hangar Safety & Ground Equipment Fundamentals microcredential introduces Aircraft Electronics Technicians to the key equipment, tools, safety systems, and work areas commonly found in an aircraft hangar environment. 

Through immersive VR simulations, learners will explore aircraft ground-support equipment, including wheel chocks, safety cones, tugs and towbars, Ground Power Units (GPUs), floor markings, storage cabinets, FOD containers, tool carts, workbenches, and maintenance tools. Learners will also become familiar with hangar safety equipment, emergency signs, first aid kits, eyewash stations, and required personal protective equipment. 

The course emphasizes hangar awareness, workplace safety, proper equipment identification, FOD prevention, safe movement around aircraft, and understanding designated work and safety areas. 

Learning Objectives:

• Identify common equipment and work areas within an aircraft hangar. 
• Explain the purpose of wheel chocks and safety cones. 
• Identify tugs, towbars, and Ground Power Units used in aircraft ground operations. 
• Understand floor markings, safety zones, work areas, and aircraft movement paths. 
• Identify storage cabinets, FOD containers, tool carts, and maintenance tools. 
• Recognize the purpose of workbenches and tablets used for maintenance activities. 
• Identify ladders and understand their role in accessing elevated aircraft areas. 
• Recognize emergency signs, warning diagrams, and designated safety locations. 
• Identify first aid kits and eyewash stations. 
• Identify common PPE used in aircraft hangar environments. 
• Understand the purpose of safety helmets, face shields, high-visibility clothing, hearing protection, dust masks, safety glasses, gloves, insulating sleeves, and safety boots. 
• Reinforce awareness of safe practices when working around aircraft and ground-support equipment.
