About the Course:

This Electric Safety in Manufacturing microcredential trains EV technicians in the critical aspects of electric safety within electric vehicle manufacturing and service environments. With the increasing use of high-voltage systems and advanced driver-assistance technologies (ADAS), safety knowledge is essential. The course covers arc flash/blast awareness, pyrotechnic safety mechanisms, high-voltage disconnection procedures, and discharge systems. Hands-on VR simulations enhance learners’ confidence in safely working around high-voltage connectors and safety switches.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand electric safety fundamentals specific to EV manufacturing environments.
  • Distinguish between arc flash and arc blast, and understand the protective measures for each.
  • Learn correct maintenance procedures for handling high-voltage EV systems as part of our EV training pathway.
  • Identify the two major safety risks associated with ADAS technologies.
  • Explain the operation and purpose of pyrotechnic safety switches (PSS).
  • Differentiate between active and passive high-voltage discharge systems.
  • Safely disconnect high-voltage connectors using virtual reality simulations.
  • Practice PSS and HV connector removal techniques in immersive VR training modules.
