About the Course:

This EV 12V Battery Isolation & Safe Disconnection microcredential trains EV technicians to safely isolate the vehicle's low-voltage electrical system before performing inspection, maintenance, or repair procedures. 

Learners will perform real-world procedures including locating the 12V battery, identifying positive and negative terminals, following proper shutdown procedures, disconnecting battery cables in the correct sequence, securing disconnected terminals, and verifying complete electrical isolation before servicing the vehicle. The course emphasizes electrical safety, manufacturer-recommended procedures, and proper handling of battery components to prevent accidental system activation and electrical hazards. 

Technicians will also learn to inspect battery terminals and cables, recognize signs of corrosion or damage, and verify safe reconnection practices to restore proper vehicle operation after maintenance.
