EV Pyrotechnic Safety Switch Inspection
About the Course:
This EV Pyrotechnic Safety Switch Inspection microcredential trains EV technicians to understand and inspect pyrotechnic safety switches used to protect high-voltage electrical systems during emergency or fault conditions.
Learners will identify the major components of a pyrotechnic safety switch, understand its purpose within the EV high-voltage system, and perform visual inspections of the switch, electrical connections, wiring, and surrounding components. The course emphasizes safe inspection practices, high-voltage awareness, and identification of visible damage or abnormal conditions.
Technicians will also learn to recognize potential inspection findings, follow appropriate safety procedures, and verify the condition of the pyrotechnic safety switch and its connections.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the pyrotechnic safety switch and its major components
- Understand the purpose of the pyrotechnic safety switch in EV high-voltage systems
- Identify the switch location and its connection within the high-voltage circuit
- Inspect the switch, wiring, connectors, and surrounding components
- Recognize visible damage, loose connections, corrosion, or abnormal conditions
- Follow appropriate high-voltage safety procedures during inspection
- Identify and document inspection findings according to established procedures
- Verify the overall condition of the pyrotechnic safety switch
