Master Electric Component Diagnostics for EVs
About the Course:
This Electric Component Diagnostics microcredential equips technicians with the skills to diagnose and service critical electric components in hybrid and electric vehicles (HEVs/EVs). Learners will explore diagnostics for motors, battery packs, and high-voltage systems, with special emphasis on milli-ohm testing, battery pack fault modes, and BMS error detection. Through VR simulations, learners will practice safe diagnostics and replacement procedures for high-voltage batteries and associated components.
Learning Objectives:
- Diagnose electric motor issues such as fault codes, torque imbalance, and rotor defects.
- Perform milli-ohm diagnostics to identify high-resistance faults in battery connections and components.
- Detect battery pack failures including cell imbalance, high resistance, and temperature deviations.
- Safely replace faulty hybrid/EV batteries following OEM and safety guidelines.
- Diagnose Battery Management System (BMS) errors, including state of charge (SOC), state of health (SOH), and communication faults.
- Inspect and test high-voltage cables and connectors for continuity, insulation, and safety compliance.
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
