Milli Ohm Diagnostic
About the Course:
This Milli Ohm Diagnostic microcredential trains technicians to accurately measure, analyze, and troubleshoot low-resistance electrical components within hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) systems. This course is part of our HEV technician training program, designed to build real-world diagnostic and electrical testing skills.
Learners will perform real-world diagnostic procedures including measuring milli-ohm resistance in high-current circuits, evaluating connections in battery systems, inspecting busbars, cables, and grounding points, and using precision diagnostic tools such as micro-ohm meters. The course emphasizes electrical safety, proper testing techniques, and systematic fault isolation methods to detect resistance-related issues that can lead to overheating, voltage drops, and reduced system efficiency in HEVs.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the importance of milli-ohm measurements in high-current HEV electrical systems
- Safely prepare hybrid vehicles for low-resistance diagnostics following proper isolation and lockout procedures
- Use micro-ohm meters and precision multimeters to measure very low resistance values accurately
- Detect abnormal resistance in cables, connectors, busbars, and grounding points
- Inspect electrical connections for corrosion, looseness, overheating, or contamination
- Interpret resistance readings to identify potential faults affecting system performance
- Differentiate between acceptable and excessive resistance in HEV circuits
- Verify proper electrical continuity and system performance after repairs
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
