About the Course:

This Evaporator Coil Cleaning microcredential trains HVAC technicians to safely clean and maintain evaporator coils used in HVAC cooling systems. Learners will practice real-world cleaning procedures including coil removal, surface brushing, pressure washing, and reinstallation techniques using proper tools and safety procedures. The course emphasizes effective cleaning methods to improve airflow, cooling efficiency, and overall system performance while preventing coil damage, reinforcing skills taught in our hands-on HVAC technician training focused on troubleshooting, airflow optimization, and HVAC system maintenance.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify dirt buildup, debris, and contamination on evaporator coils
  • Safely remove and handle evaporator coils during maintenance procedures
  • Use cleaning brushes correctly to remove surface dust and buildup from coil fins
  • Operate a water pressure gun safely for effective evaporator washing
  • Clean both sides of the evaporator thoroughly without damaging coil surfaces
  • Reinstall cleaned evaporator coils correctly into the HVAC system
  • Verify improved cleanliness and readiness for system operation

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Workforce Development

Technician performing condenser coil inspection and HVAC maintenance

At ImmerseLearn, we equip HVAC technicians with hands-on, job-ready skills for maintaining HVAC cooling systems. This microcredential strengthens preventive maintenance practices, equipment handling, and cleaning accuracy through immersive VR-based training while complementing our advanced HVAC diagnostics training focused on airflow optimization, HVAC troubleshooting, and real-world system maintenance.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Evaporator Coil Cleaning
Learn how to clean evaporator coils effectively by removing dust, grease, and debris from both sides of the coil using brushes and water pressure equipment. Proper cleaning improves cooling efficiency and system reliability.
Safe Handling and Cleaning Procedures +
Practice essential safety and maintenance procedures including careful coil handling, controlled brushing techniques, and safe operation of pressure washing equipment. Emphasis is placed on preventing fin damage and maintaining equipment integrity throughout the process.
Contamination Identification +
Determine common evaporator contamination issues such as dust accumulation, blocked airflow passages, and moisture-related buildup by visually inspecting coil conditions before and after cleaning procedures.
Reinstallation and Verification +
Safely place the cleaned evaporator back into position and verify that the component is properly cleaned, secured, and ready for operation. Learners complete the process by ensuring proper maintenance standards and operational readiness.

By completing this microcredential, HVAC technicians will build the confidence and practical skills needed to safely clean evaporator coils, improve HVAC system efficiency, and perform preventive maintenance procedures in real-world service environments.
