Gastroenterology Assistance
About the Course:
Gastroenterology focuses on the digestive system and its role in maintaining overall health. In this microcredential, learners are introduced to the anatomy and function of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including organs such as the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas. Learners will understand common gastrointestinal conditions such as acid reflux, ulcers, and inflammatory disorders, and how diagnostic procedures support clinical evaluation.
Through immersive VR simulations, learners practice assisting with common gastroenterology procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, and equipment setup for procedures like endoscopy and colonoscopy. The course emphasizes proper handling of instruments, patient comfort, and adherence to clinical protocols.
Learners will also gain hands-on experience in supporting pre- and post-procedure care, including patient communication, monitoring, and documentation. The course highlights infection control, safety standards, and accurate data recording essential for effective gastroenterology assistance.
These hands-on clinical skills are further developed in our Medical Assistant Training Program, designed to prepare learners for real-world healthcare environments.
