About the Course:

This Diagnosing and Replacing Fuses microcredential trains HVAC and appliance technicians in the correct procedures for diagnosing and replacing fuses in electrical systems. Learners will practice safe removal techniques, test for continuity, and identify the root causes of fuse failure, such as electrical shorts or overloads. The course also covers selecting and installing fuses with the correct voltage and amperage ratings to restore safe system operation. Expand your HVAC expertise with our HVAC training classes for hands-on skills.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify blown fuses using inspection and multimeter testing.

  • Safely remove fuses using proper tools such as fuse pullers.
  • Determine underlying causes of fuse failure, including shorts and overloads.
  • Select replacement fuses with appropriate voltage and amperage ratings.
  • Install new fuses to restore circuit integrity safely.

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Workforce Development

HVAC electrical troubleshooting and fuse replacement skills for technicians

At ImmerseLearn, we train technicians to confidently assess and restore electrical protection in HVAC and appliance systems. This module focuses on safety, accuracy, and diagnostic reasoning for common fuse-related service calls.

How this course strengthens workforce skills:

Fuse Diagnostics
Learn to inspect fuse condition visually and with a multimeter, and use troubleshooting steps to uncover underlying issues such as wiring faults or load imbalances.
Safe Removal Techniques +
Practice using fuse pullers and personal protective equipment to safely extract fuses from live or de-energized systems.
Cause Identification +
Understand how to assess for root-cause failure, including short circuits, equipment overload, or improper fuse selection.
Correct Replacement Procedures +
Select fuses that match system specifications in volts and amps, and restore functionality in compliance with electrical safety codes.

By completing this microcredential, technicians will enhance their ability to diagnose and resolve fuse-related issues efficiently and safely, reducing equipment downtime and service callbacks. To learn more, explore our HVAC Training Program online for hands-on, job-ready skills.
