About the Course:

Infant CPR & AED Emergency Response is a critical life-saving skill for Nursing Assistants working in hospitals, pediatric care units, daycare facilities, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare environments. In this microcredential, learners are introduced to the purpose and clinical importance of Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), including its role in responding to infant cardiac arrest and maintaining circulation and oxygen delivery when an infant stops breathing or loses pulse.

Through immersive VR simulations, learners gain hands-on experience performing Infant CPR while following proper emergency response procedures, infant pulse assessment techniques, chest compression protocols, rescue breathing procedures, airway management requirements, and AED application designed specifically for infant patients. The course emphasizes rapid response, correct compression depth and rhythm, effective ventilation techniques, proper AED pad placement, and maintaining patient safety throughout emergency intervention.

Learners will also practice identifying signs of infant cardiac arrest, performing CPR cycles accurately, applying infant AED pads correctly, using CPR valve masks, and responding appropriately until advanced medical assistance arrives. The course highlights professionalism, emergency preparedness, patient safety, and adherence to established infant resuscitation guidelines essential in pediatric healthcare settings.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the purpose and importance of Infant CPR during pediatric cardiac emergencies.
  • Understand infant pulse assessment procedures, chest compression techniques, rescue breathing protocols, and AED usage.
  • Demonstrate proper infant patient assessment and emergency response procedures.
  • Perform Infant CPR using correct compression-to-breath ratio and appropriate airway management techniques.
  • Apply infection control and patient safety procedures throughout emergency care.
  • Accurately recognize infant response and continue CPR according to established pediatric resuscitation guidelines.

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

At ImmerseLearn, we prepare healthcare learners with critical emergency response and pediatric patient care skills required in modern healthcare environments. This microcredential develops competency in infant cardiac emergency response, pulse assessment, chest compression techniques, rescue breathing procedures, AED application, airway management, and patient safety procedures necessary for delivering effective life-saving pediatric care.

Understanding Infant CPR
Explore interactive 3D visuals explaining infant cardiac arrest, circulation, oxygen delivery to vital organs, and the importance of immediate CPR intervention. Understand how proper Infant CPR helps maintain circulation and improves survival outcomes during pediatric medical emergencies.
Infant Patient Assessment and Pulse Check Procedures +
Learn the principles of Infant CPR, including recognizing unresponsiveness, assessing breathing, and checking infant pulse response. Experience virtual demonstrations of proper infant assessment techniques and understand when immediate CPR intervention is required when no signs of breathing or circulation are detected.
Chest Compression and Rescue Breathing Procedure +
Engage in immersive VR scenarios to practice placing two fingers correctly on the infant’s chest, performing 15 chest compressions using proper depth and rhythm, positioning the CPR valve mask securely over the infant’s face, and delivering two rescue breaths using proper ventilation technique. Learn continuous CPR cycles required during infant cardiac emergencies.
AED Application and Airway Management +
Understand the correct use of infant AED pads by attaching one pad to the infant’s chest and the second pad to the back while properly supporting the infant’s head and torso. Learn proper airway management techniques, safe AED handling procedures, and maintaining uninterrupted emergency care while preparing for continuous CPR cycles.
Emergency Response and Continuous CPR Cycles +
Develop skills in continuously assessing infant condition, recognizing signs of breathing or recovery, resuming chest compressions immediately when no spontaneous breathing is present, and maintaining high-quality CPR until advanced medical assistance arrives. Learn the importance of consistency, timing, and proper emergency communication during pediatric resuscitation procedures.

By completing this microcredential, learners will gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in performing Infant CPR and AED procedures. Learners will develop essential competencies in infant pulse assessment, chest compression techniques, rescue breathing procedures, AED application, airway management, infection prevention, and emergency response skills necessary to provide immediate life-saving care in Nursing Assistant and allied health settings.
