Infection Control & Aseptic Technique
About the Course:
This microcredential introduces medical assistant students to the essential principles of infection control and aseptic technique used in clinical environments as part of our Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program. Learners will practice core procedures through immersive VR simulations, including proper hand hygiene, glove removal, and the use of eyewash stations. The lesson also covers the correct application and sanitization of clinical surfaces to prevent contamination and cross-infection.
Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate correct hand hygiene techniques using VR-based simulation.
- Safely remove contaminated gloves following aseptic protocols.
- Identify and perform proper eyewash procedures for chemical or biological exposure.
- Apply approved sanitization practices to prevent cross-contamination.
- Perform basic sanitization and disinfection of work surfaces and clinical areas.
- Understand the role of infection control in patient and healthcare worker safety.
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
