About the Course:

This microcredential introduces medical assistant students to the essential principles of infection control and aseptic technique used in clinical environments as part of our Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program. Learners will practice core procedures through immersive VR simulations, including proper hand hygiene, glove removal, and the use of eyewash stations. The lesson also covers the correct application and sanitization of clinical surfaces to prevent contamination and cross-infection.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate correct hand hygiene techniques using VR-based simulation.
  • Safely remove contaminated gloves following aseptic protocols.
  • Identify and perform proper eyewash procedures for chemical or biological exposure.
  • Apply approved sanitization practices to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Perform basic sanitization and disinfection of work surfaces and clinical areas.
  • Understand the role of infection control in patient and healthcare worker safety.

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Infection Control & Aseptic Technique training for medical assistants in clinical settings

Workforce Development

Clinical medical assistant performing proper hand hygiene and aseptic procedures in a clinical setting

At ImmerseLearn, we prepare medical assistants to maintain a safe and sterile clinical environment through consistent application of infection control standards as part of our Hands-On Clinical Medical Assistant Training program. This microcredential combines hands-on virtual experiences with professional practice principles.

Hand Hygiene and Glove Removal
Perform step-by-step procedures in VR to master correct handwashing and glove removal techniques that align with CDC and OSHA standards.
Eyewash Procedure Training +
Engage in immersive simulations to practice proper use of eyewash stations during chemical or biological exposure incidents.
PPE and Sanitization Practices +
Learn about santization standards and approved practices related to cleaning surfaces and maintaining aseptic conditions in clinical spaces.
Clinical Safety Awareness +
Develop awareness of how infection control impacts patient outcomes, reduces healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and ensures regulatory compliance.

By completing this microcredential, medical assistant students will demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique and infection prevention, building the foundation for safe and compliant clinical practice.
