About the Course:

This Installing Humidistat microcredential trains HVAC technicians to correctly install and configure a humidistat used to control indoor humidity levels in HVAC systems. Learners will practice real-world installation steps including safely powering down the furnace, connecting control wiring, mounting the humidistat, and configuring the recommended humidity settings. 

The course focuses on proper wiring practices, secure mounting techniques, and final system verification to ensure reliable humidity control and efficient HVAC system performance. Through immersive VR scenarios, technicians gain practical experience completing a full humidistat installation safely and accurately.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and safely shut down the furnace before beginning installation procedures 

  • Connect humidistat wiring to the air handler wiring using proper wire caps 

  • Install and mount the humidistat securely in the correct position 

  • Use appropriate tools such as a nut driver to tighten mounting hardware 

  • Install humidistat components including the cover and control knob 

  • Configure the humidistat to the recommended “On” setting during normal home occupancy 

  • Adjust humidity settings appropriately when occupants are away 

  • Reinstall the thermostat and restore furnace power after installation 

  • Verify proper system operation and humidity control functionality

 

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
