Oral Formulation: Mouthwash Preparation
About the Course:
The Oral Formulation - Mouthwash Preparation microcredential equips pharmacy technician students with essential knowledge and hands-on skills to accurately compound and prepare mouthwash solutions while maintaining safety, precision, and regulatory compliance.
Learners will explore standardized compounding procedures, including measuring liquid ingredients, proper mixing techniques, maintaining hygiene, and ensuring accurate final volume and labeling. These foundational skills are critical in real-world pharmacy settings and are further developed in our Online Pharmacy Technician Training Course.
Through immersive VR simulations, learners will engage in real-world scenarios such as measuring peppermint water, performing proper mixing techniques, transferring solutions using funnels and graduated cylinders, and adjusting volumes using distilled water. These simulations reinforce precision, coordination, and safe handling of pharmaceutical preparations.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the importance of accurate compounding in ensuring patient safety and product effectiveness.
- Identify equipment used in liquid preparation such as volumetric flasks, funnels, and graduated cylinders.
- Demonstrate correct measurement and transfer of liquid ingredients.
- Apply proper mixing techniques to ensure uniform solutions.
- Maintain hygiene and prevent contamination during compounding.
- Perform accurate volume adjustments and final product transfer.
- Document preparation steps and ensure proper labeling and storage.
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
