Routine HEV Inspection
About the Course:
This Routine HEV Inspection microcredential trains technicians to perform systematic inspections of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) to ensure safe operation, reliability, and optimal performance.
Learners will practice real-world inspection procedures including evaluating high-voltage components, checking battery systems, inspecting electrical connections, assessing cooling systems, and identifying signs of wear or damage. The course emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and accurate documentation to support efficient vehicle operation and reduce unexpected failures. These inspection skills also provide a strong foundation for hybrid vehicle repair training focused on diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system performance.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify key components of hybrid electric vehicles that require routine inspection
- Perform visual inspections of high-voltage cables, connectors, and electrical components
- Assess hybrid battery condition and identify common signs of deterioration or damage
- Inspect cooling systems associated with batteries, inverters, and power electronics
- Evaluate vehicle warning indicators, diagnostic information, and system status displays
- Check fluid levels, filters, belts, and other components related to hybrid system performance
- Follow manufacturer-recommended inspection procedures and safety guidelines
- Document inspection findings and recommend appropriate maintenance actions
Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.
