About the Course:

Safe Administration of Eye Drops is a fundamental clinical skill performed by Clinical Medical Assistants in physician offices, ophthalmology clinics, urgent care centers, ambulatory care facilities, and other healthcare settings. In this microcredential, learners are introduced to the principles and clinical applications of administering ophthalmic medications safely and effectively using prescribed eye drops. The training focuses on proper patient assessment, medication preparation, correct administration technique, infection prevention, and accurate documentation to support the treatment of eye infections, inflammation, glaucoma, allergies, dry eye syndrome, and other ocular conditions. The course follows a standardized workflow that includes patient identification, allergy verification, medication administration, patient monitoring, and documentation.  

Through interactive web-based learning modules, learners gain practical knowledge of preparing equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, positioning the patient in the appropriate supine position, exposing the conjunctival sac correctly, administering prescribed eye drops without contaminating the medication container, and providing post-procedure care while following physician orders and established clinical protocols.
