Icons representing a four-step workflow: Learn, Assess, Evaluate, and Implement

About the Course:

This Shower and Tub Valve System Installation microcredential trains plumbing technicians to safely install, connect, and test shower and bathtub valve assemblies used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.

Learners will practice real-world installation techniques including site preparation, valve positioning, water supply connection, mounting and securing valve bodies, pipe alignment, pressure balancing setup, leak inspection, and operational testing. The course emphasizes safety, plumbing code compliance, and installation accuracy to ensure reliable water flow, temperature control, and long-term plumbing system performance.

Technicians will gain hands-on experience in installing shower and tub valves, minimizing installation errors, and ensuring proper operation, leak-free performance, and customer satisfaction while developing practical skills that support broader plumbing certification training.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify shower and tub valve components, fittings, and their functions within plumbing systems
  • Safely prepare the work area and gather the required tools and materials
  • Measure, cut, and connect water supply lines accurately for valve installation
  • Install and secure shower and tub valve assemblies according to manufacturer specifications
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines and local plumbing code requirements during installation
  • Apply proper sealing and connection techniques to prevent leaks and water damage
  • Align and support piping connections to ensure proper valve operation and system reliability
  • Perform pressure testing and operational checks safely and effectively
  • Verify proper water flow, temperature control, and leak-free performance after installation
  • Maintain safe work practices when handling plumbing tools, piping systems, and valve components

Course delivered via LMS and requires an Oculus VR headset for hands-on VR simulations.

Workforce Development

Plumbing technician performing valve installation and pipe connection training

At ImmerseLearn, we equip plumbing technicians with the practical installation and system verification skills required for modern residential and commercial plumbing applications. This microcredential strengthens installation accuracy, troubleshooting ability, and safety awareness through immersive VR-based learning while reinforcing the hands-on competencies developed through our plumbing skills training programs.

Shower and Tub Valve Installation Techniques
Learn how to install shower and tub valve systems by preparing supply connections, positioning valve bodies, securing mounting assemblies, and connecting plumbing lines correctly. Technicians develop the ability to create reliable and efficient water delivery systems that provide consistent temperature control and performance.
Safe Work Practices +
Practice essential safety procedures when working with plumbing systems, including proper handling of plumbing tools, safe installation methods, and adherence to plumbing safety standards. Emphasis is placed on leak prevention, equipment protection, and code compliance.
Pipe Connection and Valve Setup Skills +
Understand how to properly connect hot and cold water supply lines, secure valve assemblies, and maintain proper pipe alignment and support. Technicians will learn how to interpret installation specifications and execute accurate valve setups for optimal performance.
Installation and System Verification +
Apply installation techniques to assemble and test shower and tub valve systems. Learners complete the process by conducting pressure tests, inspecting for leaks, verifying temperature control functionality, and ensuring the system operates safely and efficiently.

By completing this microcredential, technicians will gain the confidence and technical expertise needed to install shower and tub valve systems accurately, prevent leaks, and ensure safe, efficient, and long-lasting plumbing system performance.
