About the Course:

This Perform Pulse Oximetry Test microcredential introduces learners to the purpose and clinical importance of measuring oxygen saturation and pulse rate using a pulse oximeter in healthcare settings. 

Through immersive VR simulations, learners gain practical experience preparing the patient and equipment, selecting the appropriate measurement site, applying the pulse oximeter correctly, obtaining accurate readings, and following infection prevention and patient safety practices. The course emphasizes proper technique, patient communication, accurate measurement, and appropriate response to abnormal readings. 

Learners will practice verifying patient identity, performing hand hygiene, preparing the pulse oximeter, positioning the patient, obtaining SpO₂ and pulse rate readings, interpreting basic results, and documenting and communicating findings appropriately.
