About the Course:

This Quality Inspection and Defect Identification microcredential introduces manufacturing associates to the essential quality inspection skills required to identify defective components before they enter production or assembly. Learners will explore common manufacturing defects through an immersive virtual manufacturing environment, where they will inspect parts, distinguish acceptable from defective components, and make quality-based decisions using visual inspection and precision measurement tools. 

The course provides hands-on experience identifying common defect types, including surface defects, dimensional defects, shape defects, and finish defects. Learners will inspect manufactured components for cracks, scratches, dents, bending, deformation, rough finishes, and incorrect dimensions while using tools such as a vernier caliper to verify measurements against specifications. 

Through interactive VR-based learning, participants will build confidence in performing quality inspections, identifying defective parts, using precision measuring instruments, and following standard manufacturing quality control procedures.
